SANFL wishes to advise of several fixture changes for matches originally scheduled to be played at Richmond Oval this Saturday and Sunday.
As a result of extreme water damage from heavy rain, select games across a variety of SANFL competitions have been relocated and start times adjusted, including the Round 7 Hostplus SANFL League match between West Adelaide and South Adelaide.
The Round 19 Hostplus SANFL League and Reserves fixtures currently scheduled for Magain Stadium, will now be played at Richmond Oval.
The Round 5 Hostplus SANFLW League and Round 7 Reserves fixtures, between the Bloods and the Panthers, have also been adjusted.
“West Adelaide has been presented with a really unfortunate set of circumstances following some significant damage to their changerooms across the weekend which has resulted in the Hostplus SANFL League game being moved from Richmond Oval to South Adelaide’s home ground of Magain Stadium – effectively a swap with their game later in the year,” SANFL Executive General Manager Football Matt Duldig said.
“But it’s also come with some significant resultant impacts – West Adelaide was hosting five games this weekend. So we’ve been able to make some changes for this weekend to accommodate all the games that were going to be played at Richmond Oval.
”We will now wait to see what flow-on impacts there may be to the fixture in following weeks once the damage has been assessed. West Adelaide is working closely with the West Torrens Council to assess how much damage there is and what the appropriate course of action is going to be.
“Transportables are an option – there’s some great facilities that can be put together through a modular type construction, so that’s one option. Ideally, West Adelaide gets back into its own facility, however, if the damage is found to be significant, we will ensure any additional facilities we add following the assessment will be up to State League standard.”
Please see below for the new schedule of matches in each competition, including adjustments to Round 8 fixtures in the AAMI Talent League Boys U18s and U16s.
