West Adelaide is set to resume playing at Richmond Oval when it hosts Woodville-West Torrens in Hostplus SANFL League and Reserves matches on Saturday June 27.
SANFL’s official modular partner Ausco has craned in six transportable buildings that will be used as temporary home and away changerooms for the rest of the season.
A separate gym, medical room, umpires changeroom and toilet facilities will also be in place behind the grandstand until the end of the Bloods’ 2026 campaign as Nathan Bassett’s charges prepare to face the Eagles at home later this month.
“We encourage all West Adelaide supporters to get out to Richmond Oval when they resume matches there later this month,” SANFL’s Executive General Manager Football Matt Duldig said.
“They are developing really well on field and as we head into the second half of the season anything can happen.
“Challenges off the field can further galvanise playing groups and the Bloods who are being led superbly by Nathan Bassett are showing great signs of this.
“The spectator experience at Richmond Oval will not change. Fans are still allowed to sit in the grandstand, and coaches will be coaching from there. All the food and beverage facilities will be open and spectators will still walk up the ramp and watch the footy.
“Fans won’t notice the changes at all and it may now be a situation where the transportables stay there for the players to use while the grandstand is redeveloped at the end of the season.
“Richmond is a great place to watch footy at and there will be lots of matches played there for the remainder of the year,” he said.
Extreme water damage to West Adelaide’s existing facility has forced the relocation of home matches since May 23.
West Torrens Council is planning a $7 million redevelopment of the B.K. Faehse Grandstand which includes new changeroom facilities, with detailed plans available for viewing in the link below.
West’s AAMI Talent League U18 and U16 teams will next play at Richmond Oval on Saturday July 4 whilst the next Hostplus SANFLW League contest will be on Sunday July 19 when the Bloods host North Adelaide.
