2019 Board Members

Murray Forbes

President

Murray has recently retired from his role as the Dealer Principal at City Mazda, a position he held since 2008. During his time at City Mazda, Murray earned several national awards and provided valuable support to West Adelaide Football Club as the naming rights sponsor to the stadium. During his time in the automotive industry, Murray has developed exceptional knowledge and understanding of company finances and corporate governance. Murray is a founding Member of the Wolfpack.

Murray’s term commenced following the 2019 Annual General Meeting.

Term: 3 years

Derek Bonner

Football Director

Derek has had a long association with the Club across many areas. He originally became involved as a coach in the youth development programs, before moving into the senior football program as league runner and assistant to Andy Collins. Since 2016, he has held the position of Senior Football Director at Division 1 club Goodwood Saints.

Derek’s son, Riley, is also a product of the West Adelaide development programs.

Derek’s term commenced following the 2020 Annual General Meeting.

Jacqui Rose

People, Culture & Governance Director

Jacqui has extensive experience as a leader in the mining sector through a variety of roles with BHP at Olympic Dam. With expertise in change management, risk management, governance and project management, Jacqui will no doubt add valuable skills to the West Adelaide Football Club Board. She also has experience in community sporting environment through her involvement with the Roxby Downs Sporting Club.

Jacqui’s term commenced following the 2019 Annual General Meeting.

Nick Karasoulos

Marketing and Commercial Sponsorship Director

As Director of one of the largest Harvey Norman franchises in Australia, Nick has been a fantastic supporter of West Adelaide Football Club over many years. His passion for the Club is without question and his expertise in marketing and sponsorship will be of significant value to the Club during his tenure on the Board. Nick has lead his franchises to many national and global awards whilst also serving in national management and strategy committees. Nick’s extensive business and media connections will be of significant value to West Adelaide during his term on the Board.

Mark Goddard

Finance Director

Mark has a strong banking and finance background developed during a 30 year career leading and managing businesses. As a Founding Director of corporate advisory firm Equity & Advisory Limited, Mark has guided large businesses through period of significant change and growth. More recently working as a private consultant, Mark has gained extensive experience as a member of the Executive Leadership team at the Weeks Group of Companies.

Mark’s term commenced following the 2019 Annual General Meeting.

Troy Abbott

Venue & Gaming Operations Director

Troy has been a member of the board since 2017. Troy also plays a role in other WAFC committess including Westonian Treasurer (2012 -2016, 2018), WAFC History Group (2014 – 2019), Managing Director Westies Wolfpack (2015 – 2019) and Chair of the Board of Trustees WAFC Trust (2018 – 2019).

Troy was elected by the Members and his term commenced following the 2019 Annual General Meeting.

Term: 2 years

Marteine Edwards

Marteine has developed an impressive skillset over the course of her professional career gaining a wealth of experience in both sporting and business organisations. This knowledge as well as her experience on various committees will allow her to develop a meaningful presence with WAFC by assisting the club with membership management and growth.

Most recently, Marteine has proved successful as retail manager and centre experience manager for Westfield since 2013. Her understanding of maximising consumer engagement will be advantageous in developing innovative strategies to boost our membership base for 2020 and future seasons.

We are confident Marteine will be a valuable asset to the club and we look forward to the positive contributions she will make to our strategic planning and overall club processes.

Marteine was elected by the Members and her term commenced following the 2020 Annual General Meeting.
