Wilson -signed!

The West Adelaide Football Club is excited to announce the arrival of seasoned mid-fielder Patrick Wilson, who has put pen to paper by signing a two year contract with the Bloods.

Patrick joins us having spent the last 11 seasons at both the Sturt and Adelaide Football Clubs, amassing 106 SANFL League matches and earning himself the reputation as one of the best players in the competition.

Patrick spent the 2018-2020 seasons on the AFL list at Adelaide, debuting in 2018 against Hawthorn at the MCG. Patrick won the Crows State League Best and Fairest back to back in 2018 and 2019, and was runner up for the Magarey Medal in 2019.

Patrick will spend the first half of 2024 recovering from a knee injury, however, his presence brings valuable leadership to the team, and his on field experience will benefit our midfield as it continues to develop in the coming years. Standing at 190cm, Patrick will add size and strength to our group that we have identified as an area of focus.

“Patrick is a player we have been watching for some time. He is a high quality individual who’s values closely align with our club and the direction we are heading in as we work toward success. We have made it clear that our strategy revolves adding high-end talent to our existing young list, and Patrick is the perfect person to help us on this journey” said Head of Football Paul Streatfield.

Senior Coach Adam Hartlett is extremely thrilled to have Patrick at the club, “This is a significant signing for the West Adelaide Football Club.

Our strategy this off-season is to strengthen our midfield division as well as add leadership and experience to our young squad, Pat ticks both these boxes.

We know the impact that Pat will eventually have for us on-field, it’s the mentorship and leadership Pat will provide off-field which will be most substantial to our group.

Welcome Patrick Wilson, we are incredibly excited to have you on board and to see the impact you will have on our club”.

Patrick also sees the club isn’t too far off of playing finals and believes over the next couple of years we can achieve this. “I’m looking forward to contributing toward a winning culture at West Adelaide, I’m excited to be playing with a young talented list and l really believe we can push for finals in 2025”.
