West Adelaide Football Club Call for Board Nominations

Member-Elected Board Position

The Board of Directors of the West Adelaide Football Club pursuant to Section 20 of the Constitution are seeking nominations from eligible members for a Member-Elected Director position on the West Adelaide Football Club Board.

The Board’ are seeking suitable candidates from our membership base who preferably can demonstrate executive level skills and experience in the areas of:

  • Strategic People, Culture and Human Resources
  • Significant experience in workforce planning and strategy
  • Organisational culture and development
  • Leadership development
  • Industrial relations
  • Transformational change management practices.

This is an opportunity for passionate members to contribute to the strategic direction, governance, and long-term sustainability of the West Adelaide Football Club, both on and off the field.

Member Election process

All member nominations must be received in writing and should not exceed 500 words. Pursuant to our Constitution please ensure that they comply with the conditions under which a member can and should be elected to the Board of Directors.  All nominations must be delivered to the Returning Officer either in person at the Club or via email to reception@westadelaidefc.com.au.

Nominations for Member Elect position MUST be received before COB 14 January 2026.

 

 

In addition to the Member elected position above, The WAFC, in accordance with the Constitution are calling for Expressions of Interest for Board Nominated positions.  These positions will go through the Nominations Committee and be recommendations made to the Board.

West Adelaide Football Club

In accordance with the Constitution of the West Adelaide Football Club, nominations are called from suitable candidates for appointment to the Board of Directors in the following positions:

Finance Director (Elected Director)

The Finance Director will perform the duties of a Director as prescribed under the Constitution and provide financial governance, oversight and strategic guidance to the Board.

Candidates should demonstrate senior-level financial and commercial expertise, together with prior board and significant executive experience.  The Board are seeking skills across the following areas of expertise:

  • Strategic finance and financial governance
  • Mergers and acquisitions
  • Gaming and hospitality operations
  • Infrastructure development and major capital project financial management
  • Financial modelling and analysis of asset management, facility planning and long-term sustainability strategies
  • Strategic partnerships, joint ventures and funding arrangements
  • Risk management, compliance and financial reporting

The Finance Director will contribute to the Club’s long-term financial strategy, asset stewardship and major strategic initiatives, consistent with the Board’s governance role.

Football Director (Elected Director)

The Football Director will undertake the duties of a Director as set out in the Constitution, providing Board-level governance oversight of the Club’s football program, operations and strategy.

The role includes contributing to:

  • The strategic direction and oversight of football programs and clubs integration
  • Alignment between football performance, culture and the Club’s strategic objectives
  • Governance oversight of football structures, talent pathways and high-performance systems
  • Monitoring football-related risk, compliance and performance against Board-approved objectives
  • Effective governance relationships between the Board, CEO, General Manager of Football and key football stakeholders

Applicants should have senior experience in football administration, high-performance sport or a related discipline, with a strong understanding of contemporary football governance. Board or committee experience is highly regarded.

Director (Elected Director – as prescribed under the Constitution)

In accordance with the Constitution, the Club is seeking a Director with demonstrated skills and experience specifically in infrastructure development, asset management, government relations and leadership.

This Director will contribute to Board deliberations on long-term planning, asset strategy and governance matters, supporting the sustainable development of the Club’s facilities and resources.

All Board positions are voluntary and provide an opportunity for the Directors to contribute to the governance, leadership and future success of the West Adelaide Football Club.

Expressions of Interest (EOI) for the Board Elected positions listed herein should be made by way of a profile and covering letter, addressed to the Chair of the Nominations Committee, and submitted via reception@westadelaidefc.com.au by no later than 2 January 2026.
