We are pleased to announce the appointment of Russell Godson to the role of Talent Manager (Male Programs) and U18’s Coach.
Russell joins us having been a key figure in junior and senior programs at both the Sturt and Norwood Football Clubs. Most recently, Russell has been the league midfield and senior assistant coach with the Sturt Football Club. Away from football, Russell has had a successful career across various management roles in the building and construction industry.
“We are thrilled to have someone of the calibre of Russell joining our club”, said Paul Streatfield – Head of Football & Talent. “Russell’s demonstrated ability to manage large groups of people and significant programs, combined with his extensive football experience and knowledge ensures he is the perfect person to lead our pathway programs moving forward”.
Russell will officially commence full-time at the club on January 16 and his role will include managing the talent pathway for youth boys aged 13-18 as well as coaching our Under-18 Centre of Excellence team.
Speaking on his appointment, Russell said “I am excited to be joining the West Adelaide Football Club. The opportunity to work with Paul after spending time together at Norwood is exciting and I was very happy with the direction the club is heading after meeting with Paul and CEO Conny Wilson. I look forward to helping our young men develop and progress through their football journeys”.
Russell’s appointment coincides with the expansion of Haydn Ward’s role. Haydn has been involved in a part-time capacity for a number of years expanding our female football programs and will move into the full-time role of Talent & Operations Manager (Female Programs) effective immediately.
Welcome to the Bloods Russell.
