Vale Aldo Russian

The West Adelaide Football Club & Past Players & Officials are sad to announce the Passing of Aldo Russian.

Aldo passed away peacefully on Wednesday May 22nd, 2024 aged 77.

He was born in Gorizia, between the border zone of Italy and Yugoslavia on the 17th of August 1946.

In 1955 Aldo immigrated to South Australia with his Italian father and Yugoslavian mother.

In 1967 Aldo played for Eudunda in the Barossa and Light Football League.

Aldo twice represented the Barossa and Light Interleague team and was named best player against the Upper Murray.

This led him to graduate to the WAFC Reserves and played 2 WAFC League games under coach Don Roach.

In total Aldo played 74 League games for Westies, in a career spanning from 1966 to 1972 – kicking 20 goals.

Aldo was a great servant of the West Adelaide Football club and our thoughts are with his family and friends.
