Retirement

Thank you Tom Keough

The West Adelaide Football Club would like to thank Tom Keough for his wonderful service to the club spanning over 12 years.

Tom made his league debut on the 9th of September 2012, against Woodville West Torrens at the age of 20. From this moment forward he continued to improve year after year taking his game to another level.

Known for his versatility; Tom has played as a defender, forward and midfielder for West Adelaide across the 10 seasons. He has represented South Australia 3 times (2015, 2018 and 2022) and was awarded the Fos Williams Medal for Best on Ground in the 2015 State game.

After his excellent 2015 campaign he was drafted by Gold Coast at pick 3 in the Rookie Draft. He returned to West Adelaide in 2017 and was named Vice-Captain.

Tom was announced as the new Captain in 2018, a role he held for an incredible five seasons (2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022). What made Tom a great leader was his professionalism, care for his team mates, setting high standards and most importantly very approachable.

With so many accolades, the 2015 Premiership was his proudest moment and a day he will remember forever. He gave it his all every time on the field and will go down as one of the greats to wear the red and black jumper.

“I just want to thank the West Adelaide Football Club for all they’ve given me. It’s been an honour to play for this great club for 12 years and I’ve loved every minute of it. I’ve met so many people over the years and am lucky to call so many of them my mates ” said Tom

“I am extremely grateful that I was able to represent the Bloods and to be able to Captain the club for 5 years. It is something I’m incredibly proud of. Another great highlight was, of course, the 2015 premiership, such a fantastic day for the club and team and something I’ll cherish forever”

“I want to thank the fantastic Bloods supporters, they have been through it all and their unwavering support of myself and the team throughout the years definitely does not go unnoticed. The club is made up of a lot of people and I’m a firm believer that the players are just the lucky ones who get to wear the guernsey”.

“I will definitely miss the club, but am excited by the appointment of Hartsy and am looking forward to seeing what the boys can continue to achieve in the future – I’ll be sure to see everyone at home games next year”.

The West Adelaide Football Club wishes Tom and his partner Chelsea all the very best for the future.
