South Aussie Select – Episode 2

By ZAC MILBANK

Welcome to South Aussie Select…..a new SANFL produced podcast covering all things talent in lead up to the AFL National Draft on November 24-25.

Thanks to Torrens University, South Aussie Select will include interviews with some of SANFL’s most promising AFL prospects as well as members of the League’s Talent Department.

After hearing from SANFL Head of Talent Brenton Phillips and South Adelaide’s Arlo Draper in the first episode, West Adelaide’s Hamish Hartlett kicked off the second episode fresh from inking his deal to be a playing on-field assistant coach.

The former Port Adelaide star also detailed that he will work with the Bloods during the week as the club’s Development Manager, helping nurture teenagers in the junior grades as they aim to make the transition to senior football.

A No.4 Draft Pick in 2008, Hartlett provides interesting insight into the Draft process, together with some timely advice for the most likely Croweater to be selected first, Panther Jason Horne-Francis.

Central District’s Leek Alleer revealed he has attracted interest from more AFL clubs since his record-breaking running vertical jump at the AFL Combine.

The exciting intercept defender details his fascinating football journey, upon arriving in Australia as a four-year old from war-torn South Sudan.

Featuring in 11 League games this year, Alleer earmarked his Round 13 performance against Port Adelaide as his breakthrough game as his aerial exploits forced the Magpies to change the manner in which they kicked inside 50m during the second half.

Stay tuned to the SANFL website for more episodes of South Aussie Select throughout November as the AFL Draft edges closer.
