Senior Men’s League Coaches Report – Round 2

Well what a tale of 2 halves. We were all over Centrals in the first playing the best footy we have shown so far this year & they returned serve in the second half ultimately running us down late.

That’s footy sometimes where a side can look totally out of it then get a sniff & confidence builds whilst the other just tries to hang on rather than continue to drive for a win and do all the things that have got you in that position. A tough yet crucial lesson the players realise now. This is all part of the journey we are on now with a nice mix of experience and youth coming together. It looks really promising but we need to play that way for 4 quarters to taste victory.

I was very impressed with Callum Park’s debut down back – he looks to be a very good find. Sam Davidson did some nice things first up too and his pace on the outside could be handy as the season progresses! Joel Stevens stood out as our best midfield clearance player which was pleasing to see along with Hamish Hartlett showing a lot first up & will only get better for the run! Harry Lemmey looked an exciting prospect with 2.2 & Tom Keough got back to his best with a solid 4 goal game! Kaiden Brand continued to impress down back along with Hill, Hupfeld, Karpany, Ryan & Redfern. They look like they are building a nice chemistry playing together. Jackson Edwards took another nice step forward & can play multiple roles for us too. Jade Cleeland had a fascinating battle with McCormack from Centrals with both offering up a lot for both sides.

We head to the Eagles this week with a great chance to see if we can mix it with the best teams & get some real respect from the competition with our brand. We hope to see many of you there cheering the boys on and be sure to get there early as our reserves have been on fire the first 2 rounds so looks like we have some depth this year under Ryan Anderson’s coaching!
