SANFLW Round 4 – Moody’s Match Report

Another hard day at the office for our women this week, we got beaten by 6 points by Glenelg.

After a good 1st half of footy, we let ourselves down with a very disappointing third quarter where we didn’t capitalise on a 3 goal wind, not scoring and allowing Glenelg to do so.

Last quarter we started well with young gun Lauren Young taking a mark and scoring her 3rd goal for the night, this put us 6 points up and it felt we were going to run all over them – not to be.

Glenelg scored very quickly to level the game and then going straight back down to score another goal to put them six points in front. Glenelg then defended well to hold on for the win.

Westies best player was another of our young guns Keeley Kustermann, her defensive work and running from half back was outstanding. Lauren Young again showed her skills kicking Westies 3 goals and playing well all over the oval. We were once again well served by our Captain Bec Owen and our young winger Charlie Scutchings. Sharnie Whiting played well again as well as Zoe Greer whose tackling was another feature.

We look to this weekend to get back in the winner’s circle against Centrals at Elizabeth – a win keeps us in the top 4.
