Reserves Match Report – Round 6

We travelled to Glenelg in what was only our second away game for the year.

During the week we spoke about our standards and values and how we weren’t quite executing these that is required at SANFL level.

With this being a focus all week the boys started really strongly with the game being played in our front half for majority of the first ten minutes. Unfortunately we were unable to reward ourselves on the scoreboard though. We gave up a couple of late goals in the first quarter but the numbers in the statical areas that we value were looking ok.

Again in the second we seemed to get a lot of our process right but were unable to put any scoreboard pressure on the opposition and they took their chances in transition and in front of goal. Although we were up in inside 50’s we found ourselves down by a couple goals at half time.

We still felt we were in the game at halftime, however Glenelg’s pace and quick transition along with our poor kicking efficiency allowed them to be in control of the game by three quarter time.

At the break we spoke about some areas we wanted to see some improvement in the last quarter and to the boys credit we did see improvement which resulted in them getting some reward on the scoreboard, outscoring Glenelg in the last quarter which was pleasing to see.

We have the bye next week so it’s a great opportunity for the boys to keep working on their craft (Strengths and Room for improvement) and we look forward to taking on North Adelaide in a couple of weeks

Thank you to all supporters who came out to watch on Saturday!
