Reserves Match Report – Round 2

We had another opportunity to test ourselves against a opposition who we consider a strong unit in the reserves program on the weekend. You know every time you play Central Districts your going to be in one hell of a fight to find a way to win. We showed again that we’ve taken some big steps as the squad records an impressive 11 goal win.

The day started off nicely welcoming Liam Delahunty in to play his first game for club, along with Liam we had Mathew McKenzie, Jesse Johnson and Dylan White all come in and play their first game for the season.

Early stages of the first quarter we couldn’t seem to capitalize off the amount of footy we had to find a way to score, where as Centrals had 3 opportunities and kicked the first 3 goals of the game. Like last week against Sturt, the players had a strong belief in the system and their own individual games to shift the momentum to kick 5 goals in 10 minutes to finish out the quarter.

From then out the boys showed their ability to cover the ground extremely well and were able to move the ball with great pieces of play.

A dominant display from our midfield with the likes of Allan, Meline Maguire, R Stevens and young gun Cade Kennedy were able to drive us forward and set up our forwards with Max Marslen and Matt McKenzie kicking 7 between them.

Another huge step in building our on-field identity as a collective squad to be challenged early, play the next 3 quarters with complete dominance and looking hungry for more whilst all playing with a focus on the team result was a pleasure to watch.

Thank you always for the supporters who travelled to support our boys. It is always noticed and appreciated and we look forward to this coming Friday.

GO BLOODS!
