Reserves Match Report – Round 1

After a solid pre season for our senior squad it was nice to bring on season 2022 with a home game in front of our loyal supporters.

The boys were excited to start their journey for the year and it was made extra special wearing a jumper that means so much to our beloved club.

As a reserves group we had 6 new players playing on Saturday night which was exciting to see. Four graduates from the Under 18 program in season 2021 along with Clayton Gay and Max Marslen who have been recruited to the club. All six showing signs that the club has a great amount of talent and depth in the program.

The game was a tale of two halves. We had some scratchy moments early before addressing a few areas at half time. Our boys bounced back and were able to play some fantastic team footy kicking 8 goals in the second half to over run Sturt.

We spoke after the game about the group showing some real character to come home with the result. Throughout the off-season we’ve spent a lot of time working on our on field identity and the habits that we as a group want to live by. We’ve had amazing input from the entire group and displayed many of these traits during our win on Saturday.

The overall team performance was pleasing along with several individual performances to show us that we are heading in the right direction and ready to make a big impact in 2022.

Thank you to all the supporters who arrived early to support our reserve boys it’s very much appreciated.

We look forward to the week ahead playing against a team that played off in a grand final last year.
