Moody’s Match Report – Round 8

Back to the winners circle with a very gutsy 12 point win over Centrals. A game we needed to win to ensure we kept our finals hopes alive. We started well and our ball movement was the best this year. We were challenged late but had done enough early to ensure the gap was too big for Centrals to get back.

Another week where our AFLW girls stood up and provide us with great options. Chelsea Biddell was very good up forward and in the ruck. Sarah Dargan was fantastic collecting 19 disposals she also had 5 clearances which were very damaging to the opposition, her forward work was very good. Ailish Considine was the star again this week, collecting 25 touches, kicking 2 goals and her 6 inside 50 entries were great, getting the ball deep to enable many 1 on 1 contests for our FF Mel Elsegood. Mel had a fantastic game at FF, she also kicked 2 goals 2 and took 5 marks, and her pressure in the forward line was exceptional.

Zoe Venning had an outstanding game she had 13 touches and 5 tackles was very influential around the ground. Her partner in crime Lauren Young had another great game collecting another 18 disposals, her features this week was her defensive marking and her ground work. A special mention goes to our second gamer Tiana Fernandez, not a lot of touches but her commitment to chase and tackle was fantastic.

We move our attention this week to last year’s competition winners North Adelaide, our first round loss to North was disappointing as we were all over them but just couldn’t get the job done, a win this week continues to keep us in touch with the top 4 and enhancing our chances of playing finals.
