Match Report – Round 4

After making 5 changes and welcoming Sarah Campbell into the side for her league debut, we were all set to make an impact to the competition in Round 4. Sarah Campbell is a product from our Riverland district. She has performed very well in the development squad and deserved her spot in this week’s league side.

It was another game this year where we didn’t work hard enough around the stoppages and wasted the ball when in our possession. Our backline was under pressure all day. At halftime it was 33 inside fifties to Sturt and 3 to Westies, and the end of the game it was 54 to 9 – this wasn’t the picture we wanted to paint.

Highlights again this week were from our young star Emma Kilpatrick, her attack on the footy, her elite foot skills and her defensive skills were outstanding. Another defender who tried all day was Maddy Zacher. We have a mantra of ‘We not Me’ and this was very much highlighted by our WA recruit Beatrice Devlyn, giving up inches to the Sturt ruckman, she sacrificed her normal role to help out in the ruck.

Overall another game against a young Sturt side who tore us up, two years in a row now. Going forward we move to round 5 against South on Saturday night at Noarlunga. This game gives us another opportunity to get a win and stay in touch with the top 4.

Best Players: Emma Kilpatrick, Maddy Zacher, Beatrice Devlyn, Madi Russell
