Moody’s Match Report – Round 1

Westies girls have started their season in good style beating Norwood by 14-points at Coopers stadium on Friday night.

Our new captain Bec Owen was outstanding and lead her team very professionally and from the front, she was well supported by Crow players Maddie Newman and Ailish Considine. Ailish was very dominant, her attack on the ball was hard and strong. She started the night off well for Westies by kicking the 1st goal of the night and her 1st goal for our club.

The most dominant player on the oval was our young pup Lauren Young, in her first senior game, she collected 23 disposals, 7 tackles and 9 marks, not bad for a 15yo girl. Her marking in defense and backing into packs was outstanding.

Westies had good players all over the ground, no more than Taylah Jayne down back who was playing her 1st game for two years. Other good players were Tiarna Harfield, and Cameron Kennedy and Carlton recruit Sharnie Whitting.

Overall a very hard- fought game from the Westies girls. Next up is the Eagles @ Home on Saturday afternoon.
