Mark Mickan Message

It was an amazing experience to return home after six weeks in Melbourne for brain surgery to find our house having had a massive makeover.

The front yard was covered with new turf and paved along with an automatic sprinkler system installed. New blinds in the living areas and bedrooms, new carpets and wardrobes in the bedrooms along with fresh paint, new shower screens with more space in the shower area and new taps, new doors to replace old sliding doors, a new heating / cooling system.

Please  refer to the list of people who donated their time and products to do this amazing work.

My two boys, Fletcher and Spencer, Callie and myself have been completely overwhelmed by this effort from West Adelaide and from the wider football community. Bernie Conlen has been a very special person in getting this amazing work done. He coordinated the work and contributed hours and hours of his own time and effort. Calling each person individually was my only way of saying thank you. Everyone was just so generous.

Brian Faehse aged 94, looks 54, was swinging a pick axe in the front yard. Truly amazing how the ‘football family’ and my actual family responded. It leaves me with a sense of embarrassment and an enormous sense of gratitude to everyone who contributed.

Thank You,

Regards,

Mark Mickan and family.
