Bloods sign Billy Glanvill

The West Adelaide Football Club is excited to announce the signing of Billy Glanvill.

Billy is a 190cm midfielder who is coming off a sensational season playing for Lavington in the Ovens and Murray Football League, one of the strongest football competitions in Victoria outside of the VFL. He led the league is contested possessions and was ranked the top 3 in disposals.

New senior coach Adam Hartlett was very excited to have Billy on board for season 2023 and beyond.

“Billy is an outstanding individual, he lets his footy do the talking. He is an exciting prospect; he uses his size to his advantage very well and can be a difficult match up for oppositions. We can’t wait for Billy to have a strong pre-season with us and play a significant role for us”

Billy is looking forward to the experience of SANFL football and can’t wait to meet all of his new teammates and coaching staff.

What are you looking forward to the most when joining West Adelaide?

“Mostly just looking forward to getting over to Adelaide and getting involved with the club, meeting all the boys and testing myself out at SANFL level”

What are your thoughts on playing under new senior coach Adam Hartlett?

“Definitely looking forward to playing under him in 2023, having heard nothing but good things. l know he’s going to be able to teach me a lot”

What skills / attributes will you look to bring to the West Adelaide Football Club?

“I just hope to bring whatever l can over to Westies to help the club succeed, play a variety of roles if needed”

Which AFL player do you model your game off?

“Try to model my game off a Paddy Cripps type or Nat Fyfe being a taller midfield type player”

Who inspires you?

Don’t really have one person in particular but Ned Brockmann running from Perth to Sydney is very inspiring. Have always looked up to guys like Lebron James and Roger Federer who are huge role models for young athletes. My family is a massive inspiration to me, they’ve been super supportive”

Billy arrives in Adelaide early next month for start of pre-season.
