The President and Board of the West Adelaide Football Club are pleased to announce that Andrew Tickle, Audit Partner with BDO has been appointed to the position of Finance Director, following the resignation of Mark Goddard in May who has held the role since February 2019.
Mark has generously supported the Club, providing technical expertise and operational support during his tenure. Mark’s commitment and loyalty toward the Club has been genuinely appreciated and the work he has undertaken to ensure the Club remains viable and successful has always been his primary motivation. We look forward to seeing Mark at the Club and wish him the very best as he enjoys some free time.
Andrew is a qualified Chartered Accountant and Audit Partner with BDO Australia. With over 20 years’ experience in accounting and finance, Andrew is a former Board Member of Athletics SA, former Audit Partner for SANFL Clubs Glenelg and Sturt and long term supporter and member of West Adelaide. Additionally, Andrew has experience with developing sporting precincts -predominantly Athletics SA.
“I’m excited to be given the opportunity to join the Board. As a lifelong supporter, being offered the chance to make a contribution to our Club is not something I take on lightly. I look forward to working with the board and the dedicated staff and volunteers as we push on through the testing time we’ve all faced over the recent years. My thanks and appreciation to all those who have served our Club, specifically in more recent times, Murray Forbes and Mark Goddard who have stewarded West Adelaide through a uniquely challenging period. My hope is that we all leave behind a West Adelaide Football Club that our players, supporters and community feel great pride in being part of.”
Welcome to the Bloods family, Andrew.
Last week we also announced that John Kantilaftas has been appointed as President of the Club. To clarify his tenure, he was been appointed to fill a casual vacancy on the Board under clause 13.3 of the Constitution until the next AGM in February 2024. The Board, with the consent of the Vice President, has used their power under clause 14.8 to appoint John as President. Prior to the next AGM the Nominations Committee will follow the usual process for President of the Club for a 3 year term.
