Coaches Report – Senior Men
Round 15 | West v Port
West 11.5 (71)
Port 13.6 (84)
Port were up & about early but after Harry Lemmey passed to our skipper Tom Keough for our first goal we seemed to settle into the game better.
The 2nd quarter ended up our best with a flurry of goals late from some of our best ball movement of the year and we went in only 9 points down at the break & looking good.
The 3rd quarter we dominated inside 50’s but through poor choices & delivery didn’t capitalise on the scoreboard, especially after we hit the front about half way through it.
All was set for a storming finish but Port slowed the game down & with the first 2 goals of the last quarter snuffed out any realistic challenge we were going to throw at them. We remained strong but couldn’t bridge the 20 point gap they had opened up.
Special mention has to go to young Harry Lemmey on debut with 7 marks, 1 Goal 1 Behind & a score assist plus a shot fell short in the 3rd! Not a bad first up effort from the youngster!
We didn’t get the chocolates but a lot still to like so hopefully we can continue to do our best & to improve in the final 4 games covid permitting?
Stay safe & take care & hopefully we see you all again soon!
