Will Day has been selected at pick number 13 by the Hawthorn Football Club in the 2019 National Draft. The half back flanker was tipped to be selected in the top 20 with the Gold Coast Suns and Geelong particularly interested in the 18 year old. Hawthorn used their first pick to select the grandson of 1971 Hawthorn Premiership player – Robert Day who played 38 games between 1971-1972.
Hawthorn describe Will as “a skilful rebounding defender who boasts all-round athleticism.”
“Standing at 187cm, Day’s 2019 campaign saw him average 17.3 disposals and five marks for the Bloods, with his athleticism and kicking efficiency coming to the fore.”
The West Adelaide Football Club congratulates Will Day on his draft selection and wish him all the best in the future.
Elliot Dunkin is widely tipped to get selected in the draft or rookie draft with multiple clubs showing interest. Under 18s player Noah Hannagan is also listed as an outside chance to be picked up after impressive performances in two under 18s finals.
