Round 9 Wheelchair League

West Adelaide 3.8.26

Norwood 18.4.112

Another valiant effort from the team as we came up against a very strong Norwood outfit.

Our first quarter was arguably one of our best opening terms of the season. We matched Norwood around the ground and controlled the ball well. The key difference, however, was accuracy in front of goal. While Norwood made the most of their chances with 5 straight goals, we managed 1 goal 3, leaving us 21 points behind at the first break.

Norwood took control in the second quarter, blowing the game open with another 8 goals without any blemishes while we added just 1 goal 2.

By halftime the scoreboard didn’t reflect the effort we were putting in. The third quarter was a strong response. We put the scoreboard behind us and focused on slowing the game down, prioritising ball control and defensive pressure. Our backline stood tall, keeping Norwood scoreless until the 8-minute mark, a clear highlight of the match.

In the final quarter, we continued to limit Norwood’s possessions and again emphasised our defensive structure, conceding just two goals. The second half showcased what this group is capable of when we’re focused and playing our brand of footy, disciplined, composed, and defensively sound.

Next round sees us face Centrals in the playoff for 3rd place. It’s a fantastic opportunity to notch our first win, especially considering the form we’ve shown over the past two games.
