The West Adelaide Football Club, along with Past Players and Officials, mourn the passing of Trevor Gilmour aged 84.
Wearing number 15, Trevor made his debut for West Adelaide against Central District at Elizabeth Oval on 18th April 1970 and played another game in 1970.
Trevor arrived at Westies with his two brothers, Kevin and Alex on the back of the trio playing in the Nhill premiership team of 1969.
Nhill stalwart Rob Gersch said, “The Gilmour brothers played a big part in the success of the Nhill Football Club.
They were three brothers who would run in a straight line and set an example for the club. They made other players walk taller”.
Kevin went on to play 20 League games and 5 Seconds games in 1970 and 1971.
Of Trevor who played over 200 games for the Nhill Tigers, Gersch said, “In my experience, Trevor was pound for pound the best Wimmera League player there has been.”
Trevor played 5 Seconds games in 1970, before breaking a leg and another 2 Seconds games in 1971.
From far away in Western Australia and in declining health, Trevor still showed an interest in the fortunes of the Bloods.
Our thoughts are with Trevor’s wife Michele and the extended Gilmour family during this difficult time.
