Vale Nick Bolkus

The West Adelaide Football Club, along with its Past Players and Officials, mourns the loss of Mr Nick Bolkus, a distinguished former Minister and Life Member of the club.

Mr Bolkus was a dedicated supporter and contributor to the club’s community and history. He served on the West Adelaide Football Club’s management committee from 1979 to 1987 and represented the club as its League proxy delegate during 1980 and 1981.

Recognizing his significant contributions, the club awarded him Life Membership in 1992, a testament to his ongoing commitment and service.

Mr Bolkus passed away peacefully on Christmas morning at the age of 75.

His distinguished political career included serving as a senator from 1980 to 2005 and holding the position of Minister for Immigration and Ethnic Affairs in the Hawke and Keating Governments from 1993 to 1996.

His leadership and dedication extended beyond his political career, impacting many communities and individuals.

Our heartfelt sympathies go out to the Bolkus family and all of Nick’s many friends and colleagues during this difficult time.

His legacy will be remembered with respect and admiration by all who knew him.
