We hosted North Adelaide for our Round 9 fixture at Hisense Stadium.
The game was our best performance this season, particularly in terms of ground ball execution and ball movement going forward, which was very pleasing to observe. The team had a high number of handball receives which resulted in us playing at a fast pace for the majority of the game. This did give us opportunities to allow the forwards some space which produced some high percentage shots on goal.
Defensively, our performance was excellent. We maintained strong defensively and effectively forced the opposition wide for periods of the game. As a result, while they managed to secure a number of uncontested marks, they struggled to gain significant territory against us consistently.
In the second term, we experienced some congestion in our offensive play. However, I was impressed with how we adapted in the second half which allowed us to go forward and continue to score.
We succeeded in winning all four quarters, which was a testament to our consistent performance throughout the match. Our speed off ball, which significantly contributed to maintaining good shape both behind and in front of the ball contributed to winning territory consistently.
We now have a 11-day break where we travel to Thomas Farms oval to play Sturt with the under 16’s playing prior.
