We traveled to Flinders University Stadium for our Round 5 clash against South Adelaide.
The first half we struggled to contain South Adelaide’s forward entries, losing too many 1v1 contests and allowing them to have plenty of time and space for high percentage shots on goal. Both teams played at a fast pace and I’m sure the players appreciated the 20-minute half time break to compose themselves while facing a 30-point deficit.
The third term saw a better effort around the contest and while the margin increased to 43 points at the 15-minute mark of the quarter the playing group stuck to the task. We then scored 8 of the next 10 goals to get the margin back to 9 points at the 18-minute mark of the final term and put some pressure back on the opposition. Unfortunately, we couldn’t create enough opportunities in the final 7 minutes and our aggressive mindset resulted in 2 late goals to South Adelaide.
Kade Hilton was an excellent connection player for us consistently getting involved in our ball movement while Jordan Gadaleta shut down opposition opportunities in our back half. Will Patton again played an excellent game.
In round 6 we play against South Adelaide again at Hisense Stadium.
