We travelled to Stratarama Stadium for our round 17 fixture in a triple header with the Reserves and under 16 teams playing beforehand.
Glenelg definitely had the game on their terms for the first 12 minutes of the game playing the style they like and we were struggling to slow them down. We felt the second half of the quarter we were cleaner at ground level which gave us some good offensive chains and while we were behind 0.5 to 2.3 for the quarter, we were happy with the resilience shown to stick to the tasks we are focusing on.
After quarter time we thought we controlled the majority of the game, in particular our offence which gave our forwards a chance to score with some space. We were organized in defence and this showed on the scoreboard kicking 9.10 to 4.4.
It was very pleasing to see the players emotions after the game as they have been training well in recent months as well as achieving their targets off field.
Our midfield group were excellent as well as Jonty Koehne up forward and Paddy O’Donoghue at either end.
Our last game is on Saturday 19th August against Norwood at Coopers Stadium.
Best: Charlie Haysman, Bailey White, Sam Burbridge, Jonty Koehne and Paddy O’Donoghue
