U18’s Match Report – Round 16

We faced South Adelaide at home on Saturday.

A strong team defensive effort in the first quarter contributed to excellent offense with the ball spending majority of the term in our forward half. We were able to manufacture 10 shots on goal scoring 5.5 to South 1 behind. Aquel Rankine having a hand in setting up three goals of the quarter and Ayden Hodgson having a lot of the ball early kicking 2 goals.

The second quarter we were able to keep our team defensive pressure up not allowing South to get the game on their terms and continue to create good scoring opportunities .We were able to score 4.2 to Souths 2.2. During halftime, we discussed the importance of our defensive efforts and that South would come out and try to penetrate our team defence.

The third quarter South outscored us, with our fundamentals dropping off slightly not giving us a chance of first use of the ball. South were able to create opportunities from stoppages during the quarter scoring 3 quick goals in a row.

To the teams credit our effort was at a high standard in the 4th quarter and were able to equalize and get the game going back our way outscoring South in the final term.

Ayden Hodgson was influential throughout the game with 36 possessions and 3 goals.
