We travelled to Maughan Thiem Kia Oval to play Eagles in heavy conditions.
In the first quarter, while we faced some challenges in gaining territory from stoppages, it was encouraging to see our ability to produce three shots on goal from some good ball movement. This demonstrates the potential within our team to capitalize on opportunities and convert them into scoring chances, even when a part of our game is not effective.
Unfortunately, the second and third quarters presented us with tougher difficulties. We were outplayed both inside and outside the contest, and our team defence didn’t quite meet the standards we’ve set for ourselves. These periods highlighted areas where we need to improve, but they also provided valuable learning experiences for the team.
Despite the difficulties, the players’ commitment and effort were evident throughout the last term. Their determination to keep pushing forward, even when the process wasn’t executed perfectly was pleasing to observe.
The coaching staff acknowledged the performances of Fletcher Dillon and Bailey White, who were judged as winning their positions.
Looking ahead, we have an exciting opportunity to host South Adelaide at home next week. This presents a chance to respond with the competitive effort we know we’re capable of, with the lessons learned from our recent game.
