Our Round 9 fixture we hosted Glenelg at Hisense Stadium.
We started the game well and moved the ball how we wanted in periods of the first quarter. On the flip side, for the majority of the quarter we were unable to slow Glenelg’s ball movement down resulting in them having consistent shots on goal. Glenelg continued to play their style into the second quarter but I thought midway through the quarter we were able to shut down their time and space better which was pleasing to observe and it gave us some possession to work on our offensive principles. At half time the scores were 4.2 to 11.6.
In the third quarter our effort was good but were unable to slow their fast ball movement down for most of the quarter and the defenders were under constant pressure. The final quarter was pleasing to see us continue to pressure the opposition and be competitive until the final siren.
Bailee Gilbert performed well again in defence while Jack Hutton competed well, and Sam Burbridge continued to play his role to a high standard as he has done for the majority of the season.
Our next game is a night game on Wednesday August 2 against South Adelaide at Hisense Stadium which is our last home of the season.
