We hosted South Adelaide at Hisense stadium for our Round 11 fixture.
In the first quarter, we competed well. Our contest work was good, and our ball movement was at the standard required creating several scoring opportunities. Despite our solid efforts, South managed to score two late goals just before the quarter ended. Therefore, we went into the quarter time break 12 points down.
In the second quarter, our contest again was good, and we continued to challenge South. However, we faced difficulties in our defensive efforts during the early periods of the quarter, allowing South to maintain pressure and create scoring chances. Despite these challenges, we regrouped in the last eight minutes, gaining territory and converting our possession into scoring shots. This enabled us to close the gap and secure a small lead by the half-time break.
The third quarter proved to be a tough period for us. We were outplayed by South, struggling to apply any pressure around the stoppages. Our team defense was below standard allowing South to capitalize. Their dominance in this term highlighted the areas we need to improve upon to compete more effectively.
In the final quarter, we showed resilience and competed well. Our efforts were commendable however, we were unable to bridge the deficit.
We now have a 2-week bye which will give us a chance to refresh and look forward to the remaining third phase of the season.
