We travelled to Prospect Oval to face North Adelaide in our final game for season 2024.
We didn’t start well in the contest, in particular our handballs consistently missing the targets, which allowed the opposition to escape traffic on several occasions. This contributed to limited shots on goal, despite having a strong wind in our favour. In the second quarter, our contest work improved, but we struggled to defend effectively, losing too many 1v1 contests across the ground. As a result, we went into halftime 24 points down.
In the third quarter, we saw some excellent hit-outs to advantage by Lincoln Pitt, which helped us capitalize on fast forward entries. The forwards kicked accurately, aided by the wind, adding 9 goals to our tally and giving us a 30-point lead at the three-quarter time. The final quarter was hard work for the boys, as they consistently tried to repel the ball out of our defensive 50, with the rain starting to affect both teams’ ball movement. Despite the challenges, the boys showed resilience to hold the lead and secure a 17-point win.
