U18’s Match Report

Our Round 8 fixture we hosted Norwood at Hisense Stadium.

We had a competitive first quarter and our work in the contest was quite good. On the flip side we didn’t defend the ball movement well on occasions but overall we managed to break even on the scoreboard at quarter time.

Our first 12 minutes of the second term was not up to the standard required. We lost territory and our defensive work was far from where we’d like it to be giving up 4 goals in quick time. To the boys credit we did work our way back into the game for the remainder of the quarter which was positive.

The second half we were able to win clearances and move the ball into even numbers which gave the forwards some time and space resulting in 3 quick goals and reduce the margin to 7 points at the 6 minute mark of the third quarter which again was another positive. Unfortunately for the remainder of the half we were unable to execute the fundamentals well enough for long enough which resulted in a 30 point loss.

Paddy O’Donoghue competed very well in our back half with some effective kicking to gain some territory while Sam Burbridge continued his good season with another solid performance.
