On the weekend the majority of our Under 18 Centre of Excellence Squad travelled to the Riverland for a pre-season camp. Staying in Lyrup at Padaley Lodge (former Lyrup Primary School) – the group participated in a range of activities designed to educate them with life skills and assist them to get the best out of themselves both on and off the field.
Andrew Marks hosted two sessions on becoming a responsible footballer and citizen. Paul Streatfield and the rest of the coaching group tested the players on their knowledge of our game-plan and the group set their values and non-negotiable behaviours for the season ahead.
The group voted on their leaders for season 2019 and we are delighted that Beau Nunan and Aryan Sareen will be our co-captains along with Jason Westley as our vice-captain.
On Saturday evening the squad travelled to Barmera for an internal trial match. The match was played to a high standard and it was a great chance for the coaching group to assess individuals on the eve of the season.
We would like to thank everyone involved in the camp – particularly Padaley Lodge and the Barmera Football Club for hosting us during our stay. As a football club this was an incredibly important component of our program and sets a great foundation for the season ahead.
