Round 5 Match Report – West Adelaide vs. South Adelaide

Taking on South Adelaide in Round 5, we faced a strong opposition that started the game well. While they had the upper hand in the first half, we lifted our intensity and effort after halftime, producing some of our best footy in the third quarter. Our ability to respond and raise our game in key moments was a positive takeaway, but we continue to focus on piecing together four quarters of consistent football. Final score West Adelaide 1.3.9 to South Adelaide 5.7.37.

Our best on ground was Sarah Deed, who was relentless all game. Her electric pace, determination, and willingness to fight for every contest set the tone for our second-half resurgence. Paige Allan also had her best game of the season so far, using her speed and elite kicking skills to provide our forwards with quality opportunities. She also scored our only goal of the game from a great passage of play out of a forward stoppage.

Nicole Biagi stood out with her toughness and leadership, leading by example with her work in the contest and willingness to do the hard stuff when it mattered. Izzy Trimboli was again impressive, this time at half-back, where her decision-making and skill execution under pressure proved invaluable.

Mary-Rose Bahls Kildea continues to impress with her fearless approach to the game. Her physicality, composure, and natural defensive instincts are well beyond her years, making her a key pillar in our backline. She plays with a level of toughness rarely seen in young players and is quickly establishing herself as a formidable presence in our defensive unit.

While we weren’t able to come away with the win, our ability to lift in the second half showed our potential. If we can continue to build on our efforts and maintain our intensity for four quarters, we know we have what it takes to challenge any side in the competition.
