Round 19 saw us head to Prospect to play the Roosters. With a number of changes again to our side, it was great to also welcome Mitchell Marsh and Noah Baker in to the side. Joining Jordan Brown and Sam Burbridge in the team, this meant we had 4 Under-18 (or younger) players in the team which is good experience for those players moving forward.
After addressing some focus areas during the week from our previous match, I was pleased with our first half overall. We were able to apply good pressure to the opposition, and our ball use going forward was much improved from previous weeks. Whilst we trailed narrowly at half time, we were playing good football and adhering to our team values well.
In the third quarter we competed well and continued on with some good passages of play, but were unfortunately unable to capitalise in front of goal. 5 scoring shots for just 1 goal meant we trailed by 14 points at the final change.
The last quarter was disappointing. We made too many fundamental errors with the ball and didn’t handle the heat of the contest well. The effort remained high and we fought to the end, but fell short as we closed the curtains on our season.
Harvey Bock was impressive in defence for us, Dylan White amassed 24 disposals in the midfield and Riley McMillan played a variety of roles to finish with 16 disposals. Lachlan Tredwell had 5 shots on goal and Rhys Mooney joined him as our other multiple goal scorer for the match.
The players have battled through a tough season with great resilience. They kept turning up every week working hard to get better. Thank you for all your support throughout the season, and I hope you enjoy tracking these players futures in the years to come.
