Heading out to Elizabeth to face an in form experienced Centrals team, was a challenge our young group was looking forward to test ourselves against.
We knew Central District liked to apply a high level of pressure and get numbers to the contest which we needed to match, we also spoke about how they like to kick first, and we needed to apply pressure to force them into a handball game.
Our first quarter was some of the best football we have played all year, we won the contested ball and our work rate to get numbers to the contest and then spread to allow us to kick through Centrals pressure was outstanding.
After quarter time Central lifted their work rate and intensity around the contest as we knew they would but unfortunately, we were not able to adjust quick enough which allowed Centrals to go into half time with the lead.
We went away from how we wanted to move the ball and made some errors with ball in hand which allowed the opposition to take advantage of this in the second and third quarters on the scoreboard.
Heading in to the last quarter we were in a familiar position this season with the group needing to fight the game out to get the result. We had our chances early in the last quarter but were unable to convert and unfortunately went down for our second loss of the season.
Bailey Chamberlain and Nick Steele continued their good form and worked tirelessly up and down the ground all day, Dylan White had his best game for the season up forward and finished his strong work with 3 goals.
This week we head to the parade to take on Norwood before the SANFLW game on Friday night. We would love to see our supporters there to watch both games on Friday night.
