SANFL and West End’s longstanding partnership will celebrate an incredible 75 years in 2029 with the iconic brands extending their relationship for at least another five years.
The announcement continues one of the longest collaborations in SA sporting history, stretching back to 1954 with the birth of the SANFL Grand Final Chimney Ceremony.
That much-loved tradition, which sees the colours of the premiers and runners up painted on the Hoffmann Kiln at the Brickworks Marketplace, will remain a highlight of the partnership which this year celebrated 70 years.
As major partner of the state’s top-tier competition, West End support the clubs in developing the stars of tomorrow and ensures that every football kicked features the West End logo.
“West End is synonymous with football in South Australia and I can’t emphasise enough how important their support has been for the development of all levels of our game,” SANFL CEO Darren Chandler said.
“To have West End by our side for another five years not only writes another chapter in our storied partnership but is a huge vote of confidence and belief in the power of football to bring people together and make a positive impact.
“From Grand Final Chimney ceremonies to State of Origin victories, we look forward to toasting many more history-making moments with West End.”
Lion Field Sales Director Jared Shattock said:
“West End and SANFL go hand in hand, we’re very proud to partner together for another five years and look forward to raising a tin not only to the premiers but all the players from this season.”
West End is both major partner of the men’s State League competition, as well as pourage partner of the SANFL, with Lion beers being poured exclusively at a majority of SANFL clubs, as well as the Mosaic Hotel at West Lakes.
It has also been a naming rights sponsor of the South Australian Football Hall of Fame since its inception in 2002 and the men’s State Team for more than 40 years.
At a grassroots level, more than 50,000 community football players across the State benefit annually from West End’s support, equating to a total of 2.2 million players since its partnership with SANFL Community Football began in 1980.
