Sturt: 2.3 15
West 5.6 36
Westies season got off on the right foot with a 21 point win over Sturt. We had 8 debutants and each one of them contributed in the win.
It wasn’t a pretty game but when we got on top and were able to move the ball quickly, it was very good to watch. Our midfield won the clearances and 1st year SANFLW ruck Kate Walsh competed well ending the game with 15 hit outs. Our forwards were blessed with opportunities with 24 inside 50’s, Kaisa Culhane & Mel Elsegood competed well and both finished the game with 2 goals apiece.
Abbie Ballard started where she left off from last season collecting 27 disposal and being the dominate player on the oval, her partner in crime was Rachelle Martin who finished the day with 15 disposals. But the day belong to our newcomers Russell, Venning, Gray, Finnimore & Kustermann all who were major contributors from start to finish. We now move our attention to Friday night against Glenelg who had also had a lot of debutants in their 1st week, it will be a tough game but will back my girls over the bays.
Get down to Hisense Stadium this Friday when we take on Glenelg at 6pm. FREE ENTRY!
