Round 2
WEST 4.3 (27) def. by EAGLES 9.6 (60)
After coming off a good win in round 1 we were brought back to earth very quickly by the Eagles. WWTFC got off to a flyer with 2 goals within the first 5 minutes of the game and they never looked back from there. Our backs tried hard all night, but were under pressure. A lack of pressure up the field allowed the opposition free run and some easy passages through the middle.
Not a game our first gamer Emma Kilpatrick would have hoped for, but her own performance was fantastic, her first 7 touches in SANFLW were good and it will hold her in great stead going forward. Again this week our better players came from defence, with outstanding performances from Madi Russell and Maddy Zacher. Our mids won the clearances over the night but our delivery into the forward line wasn’t the best. This made it very hard for forwards, however the performance from Nicole Hooper was very good, her work in the air and on the ground was unquestionable. Abbie Ballard returned from the crows and was her usual hard at the ball player, however a lack of game time was telling late in the game.
Special mentions go to Keeley Kustermann & Jess Macolino who tried all night but didn’t get much assistance. We now move onto Centrals for another home game on Saturday afternoon. We will learn from this game and put our learnings into play.
Thank you to all the passionate supporters who came out once again. We hope to continue seeing you at our games as we head into an exciting 2022 season.
