Match Report: Development League Rd 2 West Adelaide vs Centrals

After a tough first round, our second game of the season was one to remember. We faced off against
Centrals this week, and right from the first bounce, it was clear that the team was ready to make a
statement. The energy and intensity in our play were evident, and we came out firing, building momentum
throughout the game.

We started the match really well, applying pressure early and showcasing the improvements we’ve made
over the preseason. Our efforts didn’t go unnoticed, as the team continued to gain confidence and
execute our structures effectively as the match progressed. By the final siren, we had secured a
well-deserved 42-26 victory, with our performance steadily improving across all four quarters.
Our standout performer was Sarah Campbell, who was simply electric in the midfield. Her ability to shut
her opponents down quickly and drive the ball forward created a constant threat to Centrals, and she
rightfully earned her place as the best player on the ground. She was well-supported by Emma Robinson,
who was outstanding in the ruck, Bella Walden, and the tireless Bree Chapman, who worked hard around
the ground.

The work of our wings cannot be understated; they were exceptional, constantly running hard and
creating options both offensively and defensively. Our tall forwards were a dominant force in the air, with
Izzy Spooner taking several strong contested marks and showcasing her aerial prowess. Steph Tredwell
also had a standout performance, making an impact with her work ethic and determination.
At the other end, our defenders were rock-solid, ensuring that Centrals’ forwards had to work hard for
every possession. Our defensive structure held strong, making it extremely difficult for Centrals to score,
and ensuring that we went into attack with confidence. Special mention to Full Back Kayla Mudge for her
outstanding leadership of a young defensive group and young guns Mary Rose and Gypsey Mitchell who
show they have all the key attributes of some of the greatest defenders.

This win marks a significant step forward for us as we continue to develop and grow as a team. We’re
excited for the challenges ahead and know that if we continue to build on this performance, there is no
limit to what we can achieve.
