There were plenty of positives to take away from our Round 2 clash against a strong Adelaide SANFL outfit.
Our first quarter was a template of how we want our game and system to look; pressure on the source, good defensive structure and build offence off the back of that. We were well organized and impacting at stoppage and our relentless pressure on the opposition lead to scoring opportunities. This was something we were able to sustain until the back half of the third quarter where eventually Adelaide’s elite midfield group got to work. From there we lost territory and combined with a few poor errors on our behalf, finished the game 33 points to the detriment of Adelaide.
It was great to see Jono Beech playing well up forward having five shots on goal, Joel Stevens battled hard through the midfield and Tom Morrish & Callum Park were again impactful off half back. Well done to Sam Frost and Owen Mulady on your Senior debuts, also.
For our Members & Supporters who were at the game Saturday, I hope you can see positives in what we are doing. By no means are we accepting defeat, we know there are many areas of the game we need to work on and get better at, for now it’s prioritizing what’s most important, working on them and implementing them and continuously closing the gap between our best and our worst.
