Coaches Report – SANFL Reserves

West Adelaide 7.6.48
South Adelaide 15.14.104

A poor first half was the difference in a 9-goal loss to South Adelaide side at Magain Stadium.

Unable to settle the game early, South took a 4-goal lead into the first break. It wasn’t until the beginning of the second quarter that West Adelaide registered their first goal following a strong contest by Jack Hutton to set up Riley Corbett for his first goal of the game.

Defenders Ray Harding and Charlie Haysman battled hard but West were unable to settle the game as South took a 7-goal advantage into the main break.

After half-time, West began to play some inspired football, kicked four of the next five goals of the game through Corbett, Harry Chaplin, Lachlan Tredwell and Sam Burbridge. A Jonty Koehne set shot on goal followed but missed narrowly to cut the margin to 3 goals.

South regained control of the game at the end of the third quarter, but Dylan White (27 disposals), Sam Burbridge (27 disposals), and Jack Sullivan (15 disposals) tried to arrest South momentum.

The final quarter was an arm wrestle but South were too strong in the end. Lachlan Tredwell and Riley Corbett battled hard and finished with two goals apiece while Jack Hutton showed a lot of promise in the ruck.

West Adelaide are eager to rebound against the Eagles on Good Friday at Hisense Stadium.
