We were excited to be back at home in front of our fans after a week off. We had a clear focus on being able to take further steps forward from our last game.
Playing against South we knew we had to perform at a consistent basis for long periods and after a slowish start we showed our ability to match our opposition and beat them in many areas.
Our young boys have risen to the challenge over the last few weeks with their strength around the contest. They’ve shown their hunger and want to win the footy and matched it with an exciting brand of offensive play.
Cooper Paterson continued his rich vein of form down back paired with the physicality and offensive drive from Luke Redfern.
Our midfield was dominant for most of the day with Cade Kennedy, Bailey Chamberlain, Charlie Allan and Reed Stevens all complementing each other and playing a huge role for the side. Helped by Frane Babic who was solid with his ruckwork but also what he did around the ground laying 7 tackles.
Max Marslen was fantastic all day playing on one leg, and Dylan McCormick sets the standards for us in many areas.
After the win, we spoke as a group and acknowledged the achievement of being able to lock away a finals spot. It’s only the start of what we want to accomplish as a young group.
As a coaching staff we are so proud of the entire squad for Saturdays achievements. Two wins on a day for the first time in a while is a testament to the way the boys continue to work and find ways to improve every week.
Great to see so many smiling faces after the game from our supporters. Be excited about the coming weeks.
