We travelled to Norwood Oval for a game under lights on Friday for our Round 5 fixture.
We got an early goal through a Sam Burbridge mark and kick from outside 50 in the opening minute which was a nice start and continued to compete well throughout the term to kick 3.3 while Norwood failed to capitalise on their chances to go into the break with 0.6.
The second quarter we let Norwood get their handball game going, dictating the pace of the game and we were under pressure for the majority of the term. While we battled hard and had some opportunities to create inside 50 entries our decision making wasn’t at the level required to make the most of them.
The third quarter started similar to the second but to the boys credit we were able to get the game on our terms for the later part of the term and had some shots on goal going into ¾ time 5.5 to Norwood’s 6.10.
The last quarter we continued to work hard and had 6 shots on goal to Norwood’s 5, but we were unable to capitalize and went down by 15 points.
Sam Burbridge and Ayden Hodgson competed well in stoppages and Carter Wright gave us plenty of opportunities for clearances in the Ruck. Joel Parker was judged our best forward for the night and Fletcher Dillon worked hard in defence.
Next week we face South Adelaide at Flinders University Stadium on Saturday following the under 16’s game.
Best: Sam Burbridge, Joel Parker, Carter Wright, Ayden Hodgson and Fletcher Dillon
