Round 2 saw us back at home, hosting the Eagles on Good Friday. In the opening minutes, we managed to win the ball at stoppage and swiftly convert two goals by the 3-minute mark. However, as the first half progressed, the Eagles gained momentum, kicking the next 10 goals consistently through their high-percentage transition game. We struggled to establish our defensive shape between the arcs, leaving our defenders under constant pressure. Halftime arrived with the scores at 2.0 to 10.4 in favour of the Eagles.
The third quarter showed a positive response as we improved our defensive efforts against their transition plays and effectively slowed down the game when needed. We managed to kick 2.2 while the Eagles scored 2.3.
The final quarter was a fast-paced affair, with the Eagles capitalizing on their strong ball movement, resulting in 10 scoring shots compared to our 4.
We had good performances from Carter Wright in the Ruck competing well all game. Tom Kain and Ky Burgoyne defended well, Sam Burbridge stoppage work was good along with 2 goals and Lincoln Pitt who fought hard.
Looking forward, we are gearing up to face North Adelaide at Woodville Oval on Sunday, with a double-header featuring the Eagles versus Norwood under 18’s following our match.
