U18’s Match Report – Round 18

We travelled to Coopers Stadium for our final game of the season.

Again, the opposition had the game looking the way they wanted it in the first quarter and we couldn’t slow them down at all. They gained possession and took the ball away from stoppages comfortably which put our defenders under pressure. At quarter time the score was 1.1 to 3.2.

Then for the third game in a row after quarter time we thought we controlled the majority of the game. We were able to change the speed of the game and gained more confidence in our process as the game evolved with the midfielders also gaining control of the stoppages. This was evidence on the scoreboard with us having 17 scoring shots to 9.

Our midfield group were excellent post quarter time as well as Jonty Koehne and Max McKenzie up forward.

During the post-game celebrations, it was pleasing to see the boys embrace Ron Manning who is retiring after 23 years’ service to the West Adelaide COE program as the thankless task of Property Steward.
