Coming up against ladder leaders Glenelg, our focus all week was based around “Focus on what we can control individually”. We needed to get back to playing your role within our structures and bringing a strong work rate within those structures.
The first quarter was an even contest with Glenelg getting the jump on us early and then we were able to get back in the game with a couple of goals through lifting our work rate and holding the ball inside our front half.
Into the breeze in the second, I thought we defended as well as we have the past month and if not for some of our decision making and skill execution we could have been in front leading into half time. This is something that will be a strong focus for our group for the remainder of the season.
The second half started as a mirror image of the first as we continued to work hard and put pressure on the opposition, unfortunately we were not able to sustain this for the remainder of the game and Glenelg were able to kick 3 late goals in the last to extend the margin.
Jordan White continued his good form in his first season of senior football to be our best player on the day, His defensive mindset and his attack on the football have been great all year and now he is starting to get the attacking side of his game going from half back also which has been a work in progress.
Jamie Kovacic worked hard up forward all day with 6 tackles and a couple classy goals to keep us in the game early, and Jye Sinderberry also continued his good form down back and with a few games under his belt now is showing that he is ready to go up to senior football when required.
