Friday night gave us a good opportunity to see if our best footy stacks up against another side right up the top end of the ladder. We saw so many good moments throughout the night that indicates that when we play at a top level we are so exciting to watch. The key messages and focus to come out of the game are again our ability to perform at this level for four quarters.
Our hunger for the contest throughout the night was fantastic and didn’t waver. The first quarter we were able to move the footy with a methodical and attacking plan which was great to watch. To Norths credit they were able to shut us down quicker during the second. We adjusted in the third and again played some good footy with a mix of being strong and sound around the contest being able to play to our strengths with some outside run and ball movement.
The challenge now comes to educate ourselves around being consistent with these habits for longer as we were unable to come away with the result. We are a proud group that will look at ways we can improve and continue to develop our habits that make us a good side for longer periods.
Although the result didn’t fall our way we had many solid contributors throughout the night. Bailey Chamberlin is developing a strong game around his inside and outside mix. Liam Delahunty moved forward and look lively with 10 marks. Cooper Patterson again down back was fantastic and Dylan McCormick set the standard with his elite pressure.
We will review the game and look to bounce back in a very important game next week against Glenelg.
Different week with the reserve boys playing Friday and the seniors Saturday so we appreciate all those who came out Friday to cheer us on, in particular Kon and his crew behind the goals for their continual support every week.
